Hungry or Not?
Can you believe it? Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow last week. How many times in your lifetime, living here in the Midwest, have you heard that spring's nearly here on February 2nd? In the midst of the winter we're having, the news is literally a breath of fresh air.
If you've been snowed or iced in over the past few weeks, cabin fever may have hit. Hard. Because you're out of your routine, you may have opened up the fridge a few more times than normal. The next time you grab something to eat outside of your normal mealtime, ask yourself: am I really hungry? If the answer's no, and you find you're either bored, stressed, tired or otherwise emotional, take care of those emotions with an appropriate response that doesn't include eating.
Simply becoming aware of your tendency to eat when you're not hungry is the first and biggest step to changing your behavior. Then you're well on your way to becoming truly healthy.
